Backups, privacy & sharing a list
Locodo is built on a simple promise: your data is yours. There's no account and no cloud — everything lives on your iPhone. That makes privacy the default, and it puts you in charge of backups and sharing. Here's how it works.
Your data is a file you own
Because Locodo stores everything locally, you can take it with you at any time. In Settings → Export backup you can save your tasks as:
- JSON — a complete backup you can re-import.
- Markdown — readable checklists for notes apps.
- CSV — open in any spreadsheet.
- PDF — a clean printout.
Prefer extra protection? Choose an encrypted backup and set a password — the file is unreadable without it.
Move to a new iPhone
- On your old phone: Settings → Export backup (JSON).
- Send the file to your new phone via AirDrop or Files.
- On the new phone: Settings → Import / Restore and pick the file.
Lock it with Face ID
Turn on App Lock in Settings to require Face ID or Touch ID every time Locodo opens — handy if your to-do list is personal.
Recently Deleted safety net
Deleted a task or list by mistake? Open Settings → Recently Deleted to restore it. Items there are permanently removed after 7 days, so nothing lingers forever.
Share a list with someone
Need to hand a list to a partner or colleague? Open a list, tap Share, and choose:
- As a checklist (text) — send it via Messages, Mail or anywhere; anyone can read it.
- As a Locodo list — a file another Locodo user can import as a brand-new list. Their existing tasks stay exactly as they were.
💡 Sharing sends a copy — it's a snapshot, not a live shared list. Because Locodo has no accounts or servers, there's nothing syncing in the background, which is exactly what keeps it private.
What Locodo never does
- No account or sign-up.
- No cloud storage of your tasks.
- No selling or sharing of your content.
